Wedding Day Checklist
By Kim Stone
Planning a wedding can be hectic at best. We have put together a checklist of items that are sometimes just forgotten! Hopefully, this list will make sure that there are no last minute panics when your wedding day arrives and someone asks “Where is the guest book?”
There are no traditional “things” that you must use at your wedding. These are only suggestions, some of which you may not have thought of.
For your personal use, you may want:
• Stationary
• Invitations
• Envelopes
• Programs
• Announcements
• Save the Date Cards
• Thank You Notes
• Postage
For the Wedding Ceremony:
• Unity Candle and Tapers
• Something with which to light the Unity Candle (yes, it does happen!)
• Guest Book and Pen
• Flower Girl Basket
• Ring Bearer Pillow
• Garter
• Gifts for your Bridesmaids
• Gifts for your Groomsmen
For the Wedding Reception:
• Cake knife and Server Set
• Champaign Flutes
• Place Cards and holders if you choose to use them
• Wedding Favors
• Cake Topper
• Signs to Direct Guests (if you are using a reception hall as your venue)
• Decorations
• Candles
• Napkins
• Plates
• Forks, knives, spoons
I have found that keeping a notepad close at hand is very convenient. As I think of something, I take a moment to jot it down. That way, I am sure to remember and can check the task off once I have completed it. Once you begin to plan your celebration, you will find that your “wish list” may continue to grow.
While the above list will help as a reminder of items you may need, there will be times when something if forgotten. Don’t panic. Chances are, you are the only person that will even know that you didn’t plan it this way. You can always improvise with just a little bit of imagination. Say you forgot the ring-bearer’s pillow. Tell your little guy that he is so big that you trust him to carry the rings in their boxes and hold them just for you.
When all is said and done, you will still be married to the love of your life. Together you will have given each other your most elegant gifts...your hearts.
