By Ellen Moore Place card holders have become a popular wedding favor and this time of year, you are probably collecting them right and left. Or you have accumulated several over the years. Each one is a special little treasure, a memento of a special day you shared with a friend or family member...but what can you do with them after you get them home? The movie 27 Dresses got me to thinking about all the other things you accumulate from weddings over the years. Dresses, programs, bouquets. However, with the popularity of place card holders, my thoughts automatically turned to these little treasures. They are so cute and unique that we can't leave them on the reception table, but...what do we do with them when we have a half dozen or more? Well, I am going to attempt to give you 27 uses for these little wedding favors! Use Placecard Holders As Mini Photo Frames:1. Obvious, a favorite photo from the wedding. 2. Still obvious, a photo of your spouse, child, pet, or friends. 3. Add a magnetic strip from hobby store to back to make a fridge magnet for a photo, miniature art work, or inspirational statement. 4. For Father's or Mother's day, a picture of the kids. 5. Frame a tiny sonogram of new baby for grandparents. 6. Add velcro backing to frame and car dash to keep a favorite photo or inspiration near you while driving. 7. Business card of your new business or showing your new promotion. 8. Collectors can frame a few coins or stamps and group them together on a shelf. 9. Make a photocopy of your child's footprint on their birth certificate and frame it. 10. Cut art from magazine or make your own, hang together in a small group. 11. Frame ticket stubs from sporting event or concert. 12. Frame a prized autograph. 13. Frame a child's favorite cartoon or comic book characters and group on a shelf. Stand Up Versions: 14. Hold recipe while cooking. 15. Hold craft instructions. 16. Velcro to car dash to hold index card with directions or phone numbers. 17. Velcro to car dash to hold toll receipts for reimbursement. 18. Group together for post card or vacation photo holders, easily changeable. 19. Group together to hold holiday cards. 20. On desk, hold a business card or reminder to call someone. 21. In the kitchen, hold your grocery list. 22. In kids room, hold flash cards. 23. For the elderly, to keep medication instructions or phone numbers handy. 24. Put them all in a shadow box for a unique display. 25. Slide over a few pages in a book to keep your place. 26. Hold an urgent bill or letter to reply to. Both: 27. Reuse as place card holders for your own occasions. I'm sure you can come up with even more, but this is a start. The thing is, don't let these wonderful mementoes gather dust.
